Newest Airline in the Sky: FLY KHY

Cyprus Turkish Airlines, which started its operations in 1975, made its last flight in 2010. Over the past ten years, only airline companies in Türkiye have arranged flights to TRNC. As of April 2023, there is a new airline for TRNC: FLY KHY (Fly Kıbrıs Havayolları / Fly Cyprus Airlines)

FLY KHY, which made its first flight with an Airbus A320-200 operated by Freebird Airlines, which was founded in 2000, currently has flights to three destinations.

Destinations

On Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, there are two flights to Istanbul, one to Ankara and one to Izmir. It has also been announced that in the coming weeks, flights will start via Antalya to Erbil, via Antalya to Baku, via Alanya to Tehran, via Antalya to Pristina and via Antalya to Amman. Those coming from other countries other than Türkiye are free to enter the country with a valid passport. Visa can be obtained at the airport.

Loyalty Program and Prices

I could not find any loyalty program information of the company. However, I believe that there will be an improvement in this regard in the near future. Flight tickets can be purchased at www.flykhy.com with a credit card. In addition, tickets can be purchased from the call center at +90 850 800 0 549 and travel agencies.

The flight from Istanbul to Ercan (FLY ECO) for Thursday, May 4, is 4844.02 TL as of April 23. So we can say on average 225€ or 250$. The price difference for FLY EXTRA and FLY PREMIUM is also quite low.

Advantages & Disadvantages

  • I believe that it will prevent the rapid increase in prices at the point of competition. Maybe it can keep the ticket prices stable for a while. I think this is the most important advantage.
  • For now, flights are organized to Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. On the other hand, it is stated on various news sites that flights will be organized to other cities in Türkiye. We can put this in the second place.
  • Flights to Erbil, Baku, Tehran, Pristina and Amman can be a great advantage for students at TRNC. It is also certain that it will create a great advantage for tourists...
  • The lack of a loyalty program for now is the first disadvantage.
  • The company's website needs to be overhauled urgently. I would suggest making it more professional. Also, more focus can be placed on SEO work.

Question Marks

  • TRNC has a significant British population. In addition, a substantial number of Cypriots live in England. Therefore, will there be flights to London via Türkiye (such as Bodrum or Dalaman)?
  • Will there be a credit card agreement in cooperation with banks?
  • Loyalty program?
  • In-flight refreshments and services?
