Istanbul Airport, which was put into service in 2018, is one of the busiest airports in Europe. I have prepared a guide on transportation related to the airport, which serves Turkey's most crowded city, which also attracts the most tourists...
Two airports are used for passenger transportation in Istanbul. With the closure of Atatürk Airport, which had been in service for many years, Istanbul Airport was put into service on the European side of Istanbul, close to the northern coast. The other airport is Sabiha Gökçen Airport, located in the east of the Asian side...
If there is no one to pick up on your trip to Istanbul Airport, you may want to take a screenshot of this content. Let's start...
I. Urban Transportation
As you can imagine, you have taxi and car rental options. So I don't think it's necessary to talk about these two. On the other hand, Uber, which you are probably wondering about, provides service in Istanbul. However, you can only call a taxi through the application. Taxis are generally divided into two: yellow and turquoise. Yellow taxis are average cars. Turquoise ones are a little more comfortable; but about 15% more expensive. You can also call a black taxi with Uber. These are for 1-8 people and their prices are higher. If you are 6-8 people, you can choose this luxury option.
If you wish, you can also travel with someone who leaves the passenger and returns from the airport by using the rideshare app. Details: Rideshare App in Türkiye
IETT, an organization of the municipality, offers the cheapest travel option. You can complete your journey with the public buses of IETT, especially if it is suitable for your itinerary. IETT organizes schedules to the airport with six different bus lines: Mahmutbey Metro Station, Mecidiyeköy (You can use both metrobus and metro in Mecidiyeköy), Halkalı (Kirazlı Metro Station), Arnavutköy (Mescid-i Selam Metro Station), Hacıosman Metro Station, Cevizlibağ Metro Station.
HAVAIST, on the other hand, is a private company and has bus lines connecting the airport and the city. Normally, ticket prices are higher than IETT; however, we can say that it is both much more comfortable and much faster. HAVAIST organizes bus services from Silivri district in the west to Sabiha Gökçen Airport in the east. You can easily reach many points such as Taksim, Beylikdüzü and Kadıköy.
The M11 is partially in service. The metro, which departs from Kağıthane with connection to M7, can reach the airport in less than 30 minutes. The metro numbered M11 now departs from Kağıthane and goes to the airport. The entire metro route is not yet complete. It is expected to depart from Gayrettepe in the future, reach the airport and then arrive in Halkalı. Currently, it can be used together with the Mecidiyeköy - Mahmutbey metro numbered M7 in Kağıthane.
Updated / 03.2024 : The metro departs from Gayrettepe Station in Şişli district, reaches the Airport and serves all the way to Arnavutköy. In this way, transfers can be made with Zincirlikuyu Metrobus and M2 Metro.

II. Intercity Transportation
If you want to come to Istanbul Airport and go to another city other than Istanbul, you have different options.
You can reach Bursa and Yalova with BURULAŞ-BBBUS. Istanbul Seyahat, on the other hand, organizes bus services to Edirne, Kırklareli and Tekirdağ and to many districts of these three cities. You can use HAVALINES buses for Izmit and Sakarya.
For other cities: Domestic Flights in Turkey
You can go to Silivri Bus Terminal with HAVAIST and take the buses going in the direction of Çanakkale. You can also go to Esenler Bus Terminal with HAVAIST and reach all over Turkey by bus.
