In cities that live 24 hours a day, the importance of public transportation becomes different. There is also a 24-hour public transportation opportunity in Türkiye, albeit partially. I wanted to research for you what can be done for transportation in the late hours from both airports and places where nightlife is intense.
Firstly, let me explain two things. First, there are 81 cities in Türkiye and 30 of them have metropolitan status. Almost all of the cities preferred by tourists are these metropolitan cities. Therefore, you will not find information about every city here.
Secondly, the following posts about transportation may be more attractive: Istanbul Airport Transportation Guide - Izmir Airport Transportation Guide - Intercity & International Bus Transport in Turkey There are only public transport services offered by the public here. When you browse the pages about airports, you can also find private bus companies.
You will not find Antalya below. Cities that do not offer active late-night public transport were not included in the list.
1. ANKARA
In Ankara, there are bus services that usually connect Kızılay and Ulus to other points at night. Generally, there is an expedition every 60 minutes. Metro lines M1, M2 and M3 run every 15 minutes between 23:00 and 01:00 at night. There are no flights for five hours after 01:00.
2. İSTANBUL
Sea Transport
There is a ferry service from Kadıköy to Eminönü at 01:00 seven days a week. On the nights connecting Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday, there are services from Kadıköy to Beşiktaş at 00:45, 01:15, 02:35, 03:45 and 04:55. There are also ferry services from Beşiktaş to Kadıköy at similar times.
Railways
Metro lines M1A, M1B, M2, M4, M5, M6, M7 operate uninterruptedly at night connecting Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday. Marmaray is another option to consider on weekends. Trains depart mutually at 01:20. For example, the train departing from Gebze at 01:20 departs from Bostancı at 02:10. Likewise, the train departing from Halkalı at 01:28 departs from Göztepe at 02:18.
Bus Services
When it comes to public transportation in Istanbul, I think the first option that comes to mind for almost everyone is Metrobus. There are non-stop metrobus services on weekends. Night services are organized seven days a week on a total of six routes, such as Sarıyer - Taksim numbered 25G, Beykoz - Kadıköy numbered 15F.
3. İZMİR
The expeditions organized at night in Izmir are called Baykuş (owl).
Sea Transport
It is held on the nights that connect Wednesday to Thursday, Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday. There are ferries from Karşıyaka to Alsancak at 00:45 and from Alsancak to Karşıyaka at 01:05.
Railways
Like sea transport, an additional service is applied on the same nights on the tram. Tram departs from Alaybey at 00:20 and 01:20. Izmir Metro and Konak Tram, on the other hand, do not have services at night connecting Wednesday to Thursday. On weekends, there are reciprocal tram and metro services at 00:40, 01:00, 02:00, 03:00, 04:00 and 05:00.
Bus Services
At night, five separate bus lines are applied, centered in Konak. These lines run to Konak and Gaziemir, Çiğli, Bornova, Buca and Narlıdere. There is a service between 00:00 and 01:00. Others are held approximately every two hours.
