Kalburabasti is a sherbet dessert named after the griddle dough is pressed with a tool such as a sieve or colander. (Kalbur means griddle/sieve) Kalburabasti in the Balkans and Türkiye was usually done on religious holidays; but nowadays there is no need for a special reason to make this dessert. If you like sherbet desserts, I recommend you to try it...
Ingredients
1 cup of sunflower oil,
125 grams of margarine or butter,
1 packet of baking powder,
1 egg,
1 tablespoon of sugar,
4 glasses of flour.
For sherbet:
4 glasses of water,
3 cups of sugar,
1/4 Lemon.
Directions
1. Knead the dough until it reaches the consistency of an earlobe. We cut it the size of a walnut and give it an oval shape in the palm. Then we give the shape of the top with a sieve or grater, which gives the dessert its name.
2. Arrange the desserts on a greased tray. Optionally, you can add walnuts or hazelnuts on top.
3. Bake in a preheated oven at 180-200 degrees for 25-30 minutes. In the meantime, we can start preparing the syrup.
4. We boil the syrup ingredients in a saucepan. When it starts to boil, add a quarter of a lemon juice. (Do not squeeze the whole lemon.)
5. We take the skewer out of the oven, wait for it to cool, and slowly pour the warm syrup on it. We wait at least 1 hour, ideally 2 hours for the syrup to absorb well.
Bon appetit!
