A Turkish Snack for Kids: Leblebi Powder (Kavut)

In this post I want to tell you about a delicious, and healthy snack. I don't think you can easily find it in Turkey, because it is usually prepared at home. You can also try it for your children if you want.

Leblebi Powder (Kavut)

It is NOT a Junk Food

Leblebi is the roasted version of chickpea. Kavut is made by adding some white (regular) sugar to the leblebi powder. In short, it contains only chickpeas and sugar. Therefore, it is not a snack food. Of course, pay attention to the sugar you will use. Conventionally added regular sugar from sugar beet.

It is also easy to prepare. A handful of roasted chickpeas (leblebi) is pounded in a mortar until it turns into powder. After that, two teaspoons of sugar are added to it and mixed thoroughly with the spoon. You can adjust the amount of sugar according to preference.

It can be said that it is an ideal snack for children. I recommend it to make the healthy food a little more enjoyable.
